L Studio, a multi-disciplined creative lab from automaker Lexus, has a great mini-movie up about ‘The Desk’, the place where creatives of all kinds station themselves and make things happen. Interesting thoughts on the future of the desk, and workstations in general, including great behind-the-curtain interviews with Vitra head Alfred Stadler, and famed designer Massimo Vignelli.


Dancing Squares

Japanese designers Nendo have designed a pendant and floor light made of thin sheet metal that is made flat and then bent into a spherical shape. This really simple idea of ‘Dancing Squares’ has resulted in a series of other objects that can be seen here.

Mr. Smith’s Letterpress Workshop

Creative Review TV has produced this very interesting look at Kelvyn Smith’s letter press workshop. This short film shows off Smith’s extensive letterpress machines and typefaces and sits down with the man to hear why he prefers this old technology to digital graphics.

I personally think that whatever creative field you work on, you should always get your hands dirty at least to learn the processes that lead to the production of your designs.
